Positioning Professionals in Tech, Corporate and Social Impact to Realize
Optimal Efficiency, Excellence and Role Satisfaction
Learning Experience and Instructional Design Projects
I’ve been privileged to spend 15+ years directly supporting executives across Tech, Education, and Healthcare. Leveraging this multidisciplinary experience, I design user-centric learning and instructional materials.
This portfolio showcases my expertise in instructional design, learning experience development, and content strategy. It includes a range of work—from written instructions, articles, and text to visual content, interactive assets, and systems I’ve mastered, including Canvas LMS and Savanna.
My approach combines strategies to meet objectives and ensure retention and measurable outcomes, while creating content that is engaging, actionable, and easy to absorb for learners and users.
My thought process included integrating adult learning theory, cognitive load best practices, and backward design principles.
You’ll see examples of how I have structured content architecture to align with learning objectives, created adaptive materials to meet diverse user needs, and employed iterative feedback processes to refine and optimize learning outcomes.
Each project reflects my commitment to building impactful, inclusive, and adaptable learning experiences that are practical and empower individuals.
A Word from Learning Experience Design Teammates
After two years of working closely with a Learning Experience Team, fellow Writers, Content Creators, and Designers recorded this video to celebrate my work and contribution as a lead writer and content creator for the ALX Foundations Program for tech professionals.
The speakers--starting with the VP of Learning--attest to the quality of my content creation and work ethic.
They share testimonials of how I helped them
understand the content design process and acclimatize to navigating Canvas LMS.
Videos I created for learners over the years were used as interludes between each testimonial.
My work with the organization continued as part of a new department.
Adapting Instructional Content for Improved Accessibility
In February 2024, I created a six-week training program on Market Entry for early-career entrepreneurs. My goal was to provide practical, easy-to-implement strategies to launch new product ideas.
This excerpt was designed in a week due to tight timelines. It is part of a segment called Market Research for Product Launch. It walks learners through the critical steps and decisions they need to make when researching their market and securing their first customers.
I included curated open-source resources and YouTube videos I handpicked to match participants' needs.
The participants had limited access to learning resources. To meet their needs I made the training inclusive, accessible, and adaptable by leveraging mobile-friendly and low-data delivery methods, including sharing each week's content in PDF format, via WhatsApp.
This snapshot showcases how I designed this learning experience to be impactful, interactive, and accessible.
How I Create in HTML
This Loom video is a walk-through of how I create content in HTML and Markdown in Savanna LMS. The content is designed for early career post-high-school professionals in Africa, who are learning to become Virtual Assistants.
The video highlights examples of learning materials I developed using adult learning principles, focusing on engagement and optimizing cognitive load.
I incorporate gadfly stings and Socratic questioning to pique curiosity and make the learning experience thought-provoking.
The video also talks through the structure of assessments I created in HTML and the before-and-after versions of learning materials that were iterated based on data-driven feedback.
Creating an Engaging Learner Experiences
Studying online, often in isolation, can become uninspiring without the right engagement strategies. As a Learning Experience Designer, I focus on creating visually appealing, digestible content that keeps learners motivated and eager to progress. To break down complex material and enhance interactivity, I’ve incorporated elements such as:
-
Drop-down menus to organize and simplify dense information.
-
Flip cards to encourage interaction with key concepts.
-
Socratic summaries that distill essential points for easy recall.
-
Reflective questions that foster critical thinking and real-world application.
-
Share buttons to promote peer collaboration and community learning.
The images below offer a glimpse into how I’ve applied these elements to enhance learner engagement, optimize content delivery, and boost retention.
User interface (UI) flipcardsI presented learning material using flip cards to optimize the learner's experience, engagement and interactivity with the material. | Open flipcardWhen clicked, the card flips over and reveals additional learning material. | UI click-to-reveal element and Socratic summaryI presented learning content using click-to-reveal element to enhance learner engagement and facilitating better content absorption. The Socratic summary is designed to reinforce knowledge retention and encourage deeper understanding. |
---|---|---|
An open click-to-reveal user interface elementWhen clicked, the element expands to reveal additional learning content, providing learners with an interactive and engaging way to explore material. | Reflective questionInitially, only the question is displayed to spark curiosity, critical thinking, and reasoning. | Reflective questionWhen the drop-down element is clicked, it reveals the instructor's insights and answers to the questions. |
A graded assessmentFor longer assessments, I broke down the instructions into manageable steps, presenting each step within a click-to-reveal element. This approach provided detailed guidance for learners, allowing them to focus on and tackle one step at a time without feeling overwhelmed. | An assessment step revealedWhen clicked, the dropdown element displays instructions for the related steps in a clear and easy-to-absorb manner. |
Project Management for Beginners
When I design content, I break longer videos into shorter, focused segments, each with a clear call to action. This approach keeps learners engaged, encourages active participation, and reinforces understanding.
This is a sneak into how I explained Project Management in simple terms using examples of real-world scenarios learners faced.
The audience was early career professionals learning project management for the first time.
The video is part of an online course delivered on
Canvas LMS. It is accompanied by a simple project plan I created in Google Sheets.
The Loom video has 149,000+ views.
Salesforce as a Service Introduction Excerpt
When I design and curate learning material, I ensure the content is presented in bite-sized chunks and includes frequent calls to action or activities as an opportunity for learners to recall and apply the new information.
In 2023 and 2024, I wrote, created, and curated
instructional content for a 3-month course to equip professionals with essential soft skills and standard tech and AI application abilities. At the end of the program, learners would select a specific tech track they wanted to pursue. Salesforce Practitioner was one of the options.
This is a composition of excerpts from content I created in Canvas LMS, introducing Salesforce as a Service. It is followed by a quick knowledge check to reinforce the learned material.

Scaffolded Learning Material
Building on the foundational knowledge from the initial Salesforce introduction, the next step in the learning experience was to scaffold the content for learners' progression toward hands-on application.
This segment is an excerpt of an instructional I developed to guide learners to freely explore the software's functions as a user.
I structured and designed the content to progress from past lessons and provide learners with clear step-by-step guidelines of what to do and expect as they learned and navigated the software sections and functions.
This scaffolded approach reinforced knowledge retention and confidence in learners to apply their new skills in real-world contexts.

Workshop on Time Management for Leaders
This is a 2-hour workshop on Understanding the Value of Time Management for Leaders.
I created and offered it to founders and leaders of early-stage, community-based organizations.
The goal was to share strategies to optimize their time and highlight the ripple effects of not doing so.
As you scan through it, I hope you find a nugget or two that resonates with you and one that you can implement to improve your time management practices.
Learning Content Videos
I've had the privilege of being the lead writer and face of motivation for innovative short programs for the African Leadership Accelerator (ALX) and Mastercard Foundation. Below are a few public videos I recorded as part of that work to keep learners informed, engaged, hopeful, and motivated to reach the finish line. The goal was for learners to feel supported, clear on expectations, and confident that a dedicated team was with them every step of the way. These videos played a key role in boosting retention and graduation rates.
